Hi Mrs. Tanghal's class!
I thought it would be fun to create a blog to help you along with your research papers. If you don't already know what a blog is... it is a site where I can post messages and you can respond. I will also be placing LINKS along the right hand side of the page. These LINKS will take you to databases that will help you find information on your research topic.
I would love for all of you to tell me what your subject is. Also tell me what you have narrowed your subject down to.
For example:
My subject is on picture books. I am going to find out how a writer and an illustrator work together to write a book.
This information will help me find websites and other information for you all. Also if you find a good site that everyone can use post it on the blog. I can then make a LINK for everyone to use.
Hope this site is helpful. This is my first time writing a blog for a class at Miramar Ranch. I am excited and a bit worried that it might not work correctly. But hey, I thought I would try.

I am here to help you all, but I will NOT DO ALL OF YOUR RESEARH FOR YOU This is a blog to help you find information. What you do with that information is up to you.

I started to look around the Internet to see what I could find on Blue Whales. Have you seen the website from the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum about the beached whales that have died? I put a LINK on the right hand side of the page titled BLUE WHALE. Click on it and see if this will help. If you have already read this let me know. We can try to find more information. There is a book called "The Down to Earth Guide to Global Warming" by Laurie David in the Kids Area at the Scripps Ranch Public Library. Ask your parents if you can stop by there to check it out for your research paper. Hope this helps.

I want you to come up with three questions you want to answer about computer viruses. (Have you already come up with some?) Okay, now you will have to write a sentence such as "Computers have been around for many years, but not until recently did they start to get viruses. These viruses can BLANK, BLANK, BLANK." Or you can write a sentence like "Computer viruses hurt not only computer's but the people who use them because BLANK, BLANK, BLANK.
Caleb these are only suggestions. Sit down and write out a few sentences and choose the one that includes what you are finding information on.

Question about TOO MUCH BACKGROUND INFORMATION
I would first look at the main questions you are trying to answer. If you have not written down at least three questions you want to answer about your topic then you should sit down and right three down. These questions will help guide you in your writing.
Once you have looked at these questions look at your notes, articles, and books. What information will help you answer these questions? If you have background information that will help answer a question, use it. If you have background information that has nothing to do with the questions put it aside for now. You may need it again, but get it out of the way for now. Does this help? Let me know if you need more help.

I have a suggestion that just might work! Look up information on FASHION TRENDS FOR TWEENS. When I typed this into Google I found a few sites that listed fashion trends such as ballet flats, crocs, cargo pants, etc. I also put a Fashion LINK on the right hand side for you to check out. It describes how trends come and go.
For example the trend of the ballet flat was also big in the
80's and were made by KED. So, you might be able to look at today's Tween trends in clothes and compare them to clothes in the 80's.

I need help! I am trying to number my pages. The numbers don't start on the cover page but they start from the next page. That may sound right but heres my problem: the number on the next page has the number 2! Anyone know what to do?

when you dont check the mark saying 'have page number on first page', they start '2' on the next page because your title page counts.

I was wondering how to double space if you dont have a Mac computer? In my word document I looked under help and it said to go to the "format" toolbar and look for a certain icon with arrows which is not there! I printed my intro paragraph and the spacing looks so small! Any suggestions? Thank you.
I found where the double spacing which was in a different area and it made a huge difference!

Look at the Pink colored LINKS to the right side of the blog. I have put a Guitar History Page for you to look at.
Also, look for books at the public library. When I looked at the public library link and typed in History Guitars it showed a lot of them. Read the letter I wrote on the main page. It will explain how to get these books.
